Now moved to the front of the old town hall and accessed from the market place. Quirky place and very interesting. We are not game players and were shocked to see customers coming in "to play". Great environment and spacious and serving a great latte and light bites. Well worth a visit. Entrance is to the right of the town hall building. Plus they have "Escape Rooms" at Kelham Hall.
Nov 2022 Argent Theatre performed Agatha Christie ‘Murder in the Studio’ in the Police Holding Cells at the rear of the coffee house. As the director of the production, I had the most to do with the cafe proprietors and Anthony and Lucy were exemplary hosts! This being only the second time they had hosted a theatre event, they dealt with the teething problems of a theatre company using the space with patience and professionalism. Even the unexpected last minute rehearsals, the glitches caused by the weather and the demands of sharing their cafe space didn’t derail their healthy approach to welcoming our theatre community. What can I say about the actual cafe?… Quirky decor, genuinely friendly staff, GREAT CAKE, great coffee - great food (eg panini and toastiest) relaxed ambiance. GREAT CAKE. (It deserved being repeated). This is a coffee house for the town, a coffee house for everyone. You may learn something about the games that are played here, and even if you don’t, it’s a fabulous place to while away some time. A must visit coffee house that you cannot miss.
This is a great place. Coffee, crumpets and a board game or puzzle etc. While you chat. There's a variety of places to sit, many games to play and a great internal decor with lots to see. If you buy food and drink you get to play the games or you can pay to play some of the games. It's a lovely place to spend some time and do something different.
Definitely one of my favourite cafes in Newark. First went on the opening a number of years ago, and have been popping back ever since. Just a really nice relaxed place, the owner is always jovial, great selection of teas and cake. A place which is suitable for all ages and always welcoming.
Fantastic little café in the centre of Newarks Market place, very attentive staff with an amazing knowledge of the board games they offer to play. Now has an ace quiz on the first Friday of the month and live music on alternate Friday nights.
If for whatever reason you need to go to Newark then Letsxcape needs to be on that visit. The atmosphere is divine, the food is beautiful and quite possibly this has the best customer service I've ever received. Did I mention the prices are not just affordable but damn right competitive? Why bother with the franchises of Starbucks or Costa when you can get your caffeine fix from a business that cares about the product and the local area. I can't wait to go back and spend more time there.
SO MUCH FUN. The proprietor, Anthony, is so very welcoming. He runs a friendly operation. The first night I was there, I ordered food and drinks and he came to our table to see what else we needed and at the end of the night, we settled up. Definitely enjoyed myself, and would go again. I think I went there at least three times while I was in England. Fantastic experience, great board game selection and great food and drink offerings.
This was an amazing venue to play board games at with a friend, having a pretty and calming design! The waves and cushions add to this atmosphere, staff were friendly and helped us understand the games. We got to play a game racing to build lighthouses and one creating production under our properties, received a £2.50 weekend price for a limited stay and the building setting is lovely!
